What was the Lifestyle Calculator Challenge?

From September 15 through October 15, 2025, schools across the country competed to see who could get the most students engaged with Pathful's Lifestyle Calculator — empowering students to understand the financial realities behind their career dreams and make more informed decisions.

The Lifestyle Calculator is a powerful tool that helps students explore the relationship between career choices and lifestyle expectations. By inputting their desired lifestyle preferences — from housing and transportation to entertainment and savings goals — students can see which careers align with their financial needs and adjust their expectations accordingly.

How it worked: three ways to win

We believe in celebrating success in multiple ways, which is why we designed three different pathways to recognition:

🥇 Percentage Leaders

Three schools with the highest percentage of students completing assessments each won $150.

This category ensures that schools of all sizes have an equal opportunity to win. Whether you have 50 students or 500, it's about engagement rates, not raw numbers. If rates tie, the average number of assessments per participating student decides the winner.

🚀 Volume Champions

Two schools with the highest total number of completions each won $200.

This category recognizes schools that achieve high participation numbers, complementing our percentage-based winners to ensure we celebrate success across different school contexts.

🎲 Educator Appreciation Raffle

Three random teachers with 30+ student completions each won $50.

Because we know that behind every successful implementation is a dedicated educator! Any teacher who got 30+ of their students to complete the assessment was entered into our appreciation raffle.

🏅 Digital Recognition

All winners also received custom digital badges recognizing their achievement.

In addition to the prizes, every winning school and teacher received a custom digital badge that celebrates their success in the Lifestyle Calculator Challenge. These badges can be shared in newsletters, on social media, or displayed proudly as recognition of your commitment to student learning.

Tracking progress

Throughout the challenge, we published weekly leaderboards so schools could see how they were performing and get that extra motivation to keep students engaged. There's nothing quite like a little friendly competition to boost participation!

All tracking was done through our existing platform data, so there was no extra paperwork or reporting required — just teaching and inspiring students. No registration was necessary.
