Monitoring engagement: spotting who needs extra support

Use Pathful's reports to see who's engaging with career readiness, catch disengagement early, and act before students fall behind.

Engagement is a key factor in learner success — but not every student interacts with career resources at the same level. Pathful's reporting tools give educators real-time insight into participation, so they can spot disengaged learners and take proactive steps to keep everyone on track.

Understanding engagement through reports

Pathful's reports show how students are interacting with career-readiness resources across the platform — career assessment completion and results, which job-shadowing videos and clusters capture interest, participation in work-based learning, engagement with postsecondary planning, and progress through FlexLessons and Courses.

Key reports for monitoring engagement

  • Overview — a big-picture view to establish baselines and spot trends.
  • User Total Usage — time spent per student, surfacing minimal engagement.
  • Career Videos Watched — who's exploring videos and who needs encouragement.
  • WBL Session Participation — involvement in work-based learning.
  • Exploration by Career/Cluster — students who haven't explored options yet.
  • FlexLesson Progress by Student and Assignment Details — who's falling behind, and which assignments have low completion.
  • Assessment Overview — assessment results and completion status at a glance.

Student artifacts as progress indicators

Beyond usage data, artifact reports show who has completed Postsecondary Plans, set goals, or built resumes and cover letters. These are especially useful for finding students who are active on the platform but haven't translated exploration into the documents they'll need — for example, a student who watches many career videos but still needs help turning that into a concrete plan.

Identifying learners who need support

Watch for minimal platform usage, incomplete assessments, low FlexLesson progress, few or no videos watched, and missing artifacts like Postsecondary Plans, resumes, or goals. A cluster of learners with no completed assessments or videos may signal a lack of awareness, disinterest in current options, or another barrier to address.

Taking action on the data

  • Check in with learners to understand challenges and motivate exploration.
  • Address barriers like limited access or uncertainty about postsecondary paths.
  • Assign personalized FlexLessons aligned to interests, or recommend guest speakers and hands-on projects.
  • Schedule one-on-one coaching to review results, discuss aspirations, and set action steps.
  • Facilitate peer learning so engaged students inspire others.
  • Promote interactive experiences — Live WBL Sessions, mentorship, or site visits.

Building a proactive support system

A simple rhythm keeps every student visible: monitor key metrics weekly, identify signs of disengagement early, intervene promptly with personalized support, and track improvement over time. Reviewed regularly, Pathful's reports help ensure no learner falls behind in their career-exploration journey — providing the guidance needed for students to stay engaged and better prepared for their future careers.
