Pathful in Practice #6: Brooke Stone – Phased Rollout & Training for District-Wide Postsecondary Readiness

Brooke Stone a Transition Readiness Resource Teacher with Jefferson County Public Schools (KY), highlights a district-level playbook: roll out Pathful in phases and invest in ongoing staff training so more students get consistent access to career exploration, scholarships, and workforce learning.
“JCPS has implemented Pathful into our high schools for three years now. Each year, usage has grown higher, and we are training more and more staff in the benefits of utilizing the platform. This year, we were also able to bring in all of our middle schools, which was super exciting. Allowing students the opportunities to explore careers, dive into scholarships, and learn more about the workforce has aided in our students becoming postsecondary ready."
Why it works: A phased rollout keeps change manageable; frequent training turns access into classroom routines that build toward postsecondary readiness.
How to try it:
- Phase by grade band: pilot with one school/grade, capture quick wins, then expand to the next band.
- Train light, train often: run short PD sprints on core tasks (Postsecondary search, Scholarships, career videos) and share templates/checklists.
- Make it routine for students: set a weekly 10–15 minute block for exploration or scholarship lookups—students save finds and note one next step.
- Show the throughline: connect exploration to workplace skills (communication, teamwork) so college/career tasks feel integrated, not separate.
